Education
Big Brains Don’t Always Make Good Leaders
To lead people isn’t a matter of being super educated, most of the world’s best leaders if you check aren’t intellectuals, several of them attended no high school, leadership is a gift given to men by God. Albert Einstein the Jew identified that, when he was asked to become the President of the Nation of God’s people Israel, he declined the request by the Israeli community in 1952 saying: “I am deeply moved by the offer of our State of Israel and at the same time sad and ashamed that I cannot accept it.
All my life I have dealt with objective matters. Therefore, I lack both natural aptitude and experience to properly deal with people and perform official duties.” For a benefit of doubt, I have to also admit that there are some big brains who have the aptitude of a leader, some have only the aptitude of science and arts, while some have both aptitudes, the later is rare In the skin of Einstein, education isn’t a criteria for leadership, that one is super learned doesn’t mean s/he will make a good leader, leadership is a natural aptitude.
Although there are leadership schools where people pay thousands of dollars to learn the skill of leadership, most of them succeed as the worst leaders in the history of mankind, most of the world bad leaders attended school of leadership, yet they lack the flora to lead. There is no place where one can learn how to lead, the aptitude is inward and given, leaders are born, they are not made, they are not taught, you can’t use man made theories to lead humans, often disaster is common.
Adolf Hitler attended leadership schools, trying to implement what they taught him, he created the second world war. When it comes to leadership the level of one’s education adds nothing, Olusegun Obasanjo attended no University but we all can attest to the fact he did better than the educated ones till present. In matters of leadership don’t clap in hope for people because they are educated, clap in hope they have the natural aptitude to lead; leadership doesn’t ask how intelligent one is, it asks how pre-prepared one is.
During the 2015 Buhari/Osinbajo campaign I was wryly indifferent, I read many comments, I heard views where people made bare hopeful views that Nigeria will be better to have a Professor for the first time as the Vice President, they called it the change Nigerians need, where are we today in the journey, is anyone feeling mentally or socially healthy with the breeze? Although being educated has its own role to play in leadership but it isn’t the driver, aptitude is the driver, if one lacks the natural aptitude no matter how super educated s/he is the era may be marked with governmental mistakes.
We have closed in on debts that will take over 100 years to clear, not because we are cursed, the leaders simply lack the aptitude to lead.
I make hope Nigeria this time will get a leader who has the natural aptitude to lead, and foremost I hope people will put aptitude into consideration en lieu sentimentalism.
