Truth
Bursting Through
The same day David was anointed King, the Philistines heard of it and gathered at mountain Perazim where they waged war against him, this was David’s first battle when he became King of Israel. A moving flood by natural occurrence pulls down everything on its path, how much more when the power of God is in motion?
The war between Israel and the Philistines lasted for years, many who came before David fought without success, from Sampson to Saul. It was at that same mountain where they captured Sampson and tore out his eyes took him to Gaza where he was made to grind grain in the prison, at this same spot they waited for David.
This was a point of weakness for the Israelites, written in the Book of Judges, a place where the first judge and leader was defeated, it was a place of gory memorial, a place of fear for the Israelites.
Camping at Perazim was to remind David of what they did to others before him, by this they indirectly said to David just like we did to Sampson we shall do to you. And David gathered his men to face them, when he approached the besieged frontline about to launch an offensive attack the LORD called him, “David!, this battle isn’t yours, it’s mine, stand out of my way, let me do my marvelous things, give me chance to do my strange things” David stood beside, and the power of God came down in the form of flood and storm, passed through the camp of the Philistines and ravaged them apart, not even one soldier, one enemy of David remained, this ended the long time war between the Israelites and the Philistines till this day.
This was the day God avenged the humiliation and death of Sampson on his enemies, the story was rewritten in the Book of Chronicles, Psalms and Isaiah. Your story shall be written, every bad memory shall be erased as it was at Perazim, may God of Perazim go for you.
This victory gave David great peace from the oppression of the Philistines. He named the mountain Perazim, which translates as “Yahweh bursting through like waters” through his enemies.
There are some battles you can not win on your own, David was a man of war, but God saw he can’t win easily and He sent forth His Power and gave him peace. For any battle you have faced for years that you have been unable to win, may the Lord burst through them like a flood, let there be victory and peace.
