EL Echad: Our Father
No nation on earth was knowledgeable to call God by His personal Name EL “LORD” except the Hebrews, some of the ancient Kings referred to Him as the Hebrew God, Darius called Him the God of Daniel, this continued until Jesus came.
It’s a personal Jewish devotional name about One God; the Lord is One. The Israelites or the Hebrew nation believe the Living God is only the God of the Hebrews, from Genesis to Malachi they were right, but that ownership of God as the God of the Hebrews alone changed in Matthew.
No nation on earth was knowledgeable to call God by His personal Name EL “LORD” except the Hebrews, some of the ancient Kings referred to Him as the Hebrew God, Darius called Him the God of Daniel, this continued until Jesus came.
It was Jesus who introduced the Living God as God of all the nations, races and tribes in Matthew, that was one of the reasons the Jews hated Him, because in the Torah or Mosaic Books God was seen as only the God of the Jews.
In Matthew He said to them, when you want to pray, say, “Our Father” here He introduced EL ECHAD as Our Father, not Hebrew Father, no longer the Father to a specific tribe but the Father of all the tribes, by this implication, even before Jesus died on the Cross, He had already connected all the nations of earth to One Living God, men prayed “Our Father” even before Jesus’ death, He had the power to do that because He’s that EL ECHAD who appeared before men.
When we call Him EL Echad we are proclaiming His Oneness and Unity will abound. It means He’s the only One we should desire, this is ultimately what He desires of us.
It’s also a means of casting aside temptation, doubts and worldly distraction, when we mention the name EL Echad, we are declaring the LORD is the only One in the Throne of Our hearts and our lives will bring Him glory through our actions.
In the very first place God introduced Himself in Genesis, He introduced Himself as a Triune, One God in Plural form, He used the pronoun ‘Us’ which referred to the Son and the Holy Spirit, these Great Beings being part of the Triune manifested in the New Testament in three dimensions, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
All the nations now call God by His Name because of what Jesus did, He introduced God as Our Father, the Gentiles received God as their Father, they prayed to Him as their Lord even before He went to the Cross.
The Jews couldn’t understand Jesus, how can the Living God also be the God of the Gentiles and forbidden nations? They asked, they believed the MESSIAH and EL ECHAD are only reserved for the Jews, teaching both the Hebrews and the Gentiles to pray Our Father was a reconciliation of intimacy of the entire human race, that’s the human race became part of the spiritual commonwealth of Abraham.
