Finding The Way

In the desert there is no direction, one can not say there is the north and south or here is the east and west, to be lost in the desert is to be lost forever.

Knowing there is no road in the desert Moses pleaded with God to go with them personally, He sent a part of Him known as the Angel of His Presence to go with them, the journey was smooth and straightforward until some of them became disobedient by murmuring, they lost the direction and wandered in the desert for 40 years for a journey of few days from Egypt to Canaan.

They would have wandered more than 40 years if God hadn’t separated them, God kept them turning on the spot until all the disobedient ones died, the few that remained regained their direction and headed for Canaan, for they obeyed. Disobedience often causes loss of direction, a disobedient mind is rebellious, so it can’t see clearly.

In natural principle if one is lost in the desert, there is an improvised way to make a compass and find your way out of the desert by doing the following:

1. Place a 90 degree vertical pole on the ground, and place a small stone where the top of the shadow falls. 2. Wait ten to fifteen minutes and place a second stone at the point where the side of the shadow moves. 3. Draw a line between the two points, this is the east-west line. 4. Place your left foot on the first stone, and your right foot on the second stone, you will be looking at the north, the first shadow is the West and the second is the East.

In a physical desert this principle if obeyed reveals the way to follow, but how can one find the way when lost in the desert of life? simply obey the one who knows the way. He isn’t just the way to Heaven, but the way to all truth, obedience reveals direction, anyone who obeys shall see the way to follow.
