Pride
Hair And Pride
It’s written Delilah shaved Sampson’s hair off and he lost his divine strength, it’s also truly written Sampson’s strength was in his long hair, but in the last days of his life, even with the hair still shaved when he was captured, he pulled down the temple, he demonstrated power greater than when he had his hair on, so do you think, his strength lied only on his hair?
In Biblical times, long hair was associated with strength and honor, particularly the men at that time were forbidden to cut their hair, Sampson being the foremost.
Whenever the hair is cut or shaved off, it was seen as a mark of grief or mourning, not only in Israel, it’s practiced in other places.
Long hair for men is also a sign of spiritual devotion, for instance the Nazarites, were consecrated and dedicated for higher spiritual assignments, no razor ever touched their hair.
For the women, long hair is a sign of respect and submission, this could be achieved by having long hair or wearing a head covering.
The hair also reminds us of God’s love, care and sovereignty, it reminds us God cares even for the tiniest item, even a stand of the human hair.
Now coming to it’s value in beauty, in women beauty lies in their hair, not merely on the face, a women who has a beautiful hair is considered outstanding even when her face may not be all that beautiful, the female hair has a special charm of attraction, especially when it’s long, that’s why you see le salon anywhere you go.
Women spend on the hair more than anything, some spend up to a billion just for the hair, in beauty the hair comes first before facial beauty and bodily beauty, as little is spent on the face.
Cleopatra, the first Queen of Egypt wasn’t that beautiful but her hair was something even Cesar couldn’t resist.
The human hair has powers in term of spiritual assignments, spiritual position, style, consecration and life.
As we age, the hair starts falling off and getting weaker, this explains we are getting closer to a point of return.
Now let’s visit the mermaids, the longer the hair, the more powerful they are, and you know there are hierarchies of powers in the marine world, this hierarchies are marked by how long the hair is.
A single strand of human hair is stronger than copper, no two persons have the same type of hair, the hair keeps a record of someone’s biological inclinations intact even after centuries of years, forensic experts can use the human hair to obtain any information they seek uniquely.
God first said to Moses, stretch the stick over the sea, at a time again, God said to him strike the rock to bring forth water, at the third time, God said speak to the rock, this explains the power to divide the red sea, bring water out of the rock didn’t lie on Moses and the stick but on the obedience to God’s Word.
The anointing of King Saul wasn’t in the oil poured on his hair by Samuel, the anointing was in obedience to the Word, the very instant he disobeyed the anointing left him, Saul became a mad King.
At this point even without mentioning, you already know where Sampson power was hidden.
It was hidden in obedience to the Word of God, not the hair, the hair was just a tool of connection, the Bible made it clear with or without the hair Sampson was powerful.
God said to him don’t “carry woman” don’t go in with harlots or foreign women, Sampson was an expert as carrying women, he moved from brothels to brothels on mountain tops searching for foreign harlots, in one of his adventures he found Delilah.
Don’t take intoxicating drinks , you’re a Nazarene, Sampson drank some.
He started doing all these when the pride of his hair got into him, it was the same case with Lucifer, Sampson believed he got that power by his own strength, he abandoned the house of God, doing things totally in his own way.
That very moment he disobeyed was the moment God left him, it was the moment his power left him, Delilah made that reality come to pass.
I speak the truth, if Sampson had kept the Words, but mistakenly at sleep somehow someone shaves off his hair, his strength would still remain intact or even more, because the strength was hidden in obedience to the Word not in his hair.
To understand it better, you have to consider with which power did he pull down the temple, eyes plucked out, hair shaved off, at that very last minute of his life God reminded him, “Sampson I am your strength not your hair.”
“Sampson, I am your strength, not your hair.”In the name of the One who sent me, I come to you.
Your strength doesn’t lie in anointing, it doesn’t lie in any great man of God anointing you, it doesn’t lie in your name or birth, it doesn’t lie in anything you think you are or have, it doesn’t lie in your efforts, it lies only in your obedience to the Word of God.
