In The Wilderness With God

God has allowed you to spend time in different wildernesses of life to teach you important lessons you need to learn in order to be a faithful and loyal child of God.

Many of the great men of God in the Bible spent a lot of time in the wilderness, there they earned important experience. Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness where God prepared him to face Pharaoh, after that wilderness experience he defeated Pharaoh and went into another wilderness experiences, half of his entire life was spent in the wilderness, we can’t talk about Moses’ walk with God without mentioning the wilderness, most of his experiences were learned in the wilderness.

Looking at the wilderness with the human eye, it’s a dry ground, but spiritually, it’s a fertile ground where great men are made.

The wilderness is a place to focus on God, it’s a place of few friends, or no friends at all, it’s a place of fewer distractions and few dependence on worldly pleasures, it’s a ground where character is built.
David spent 13 years of his life in the wilderness as a fugitive even after he was chosen to he the King, God carved a scene which drove him into the wilderness to be trained.wilderness

Journey with God isn’t an easy one, it’s a journey through the wilderness and you must be ready for it to walk with him, first God chose David and anointed him King, second He drove him into the wilderness to be trained.

In that wilderness, David faced loneliness, isolated from his best friend Jonathan, he faced physical hardship and mental imbalance, fear for his life was his daily visitor, enemies and spies encompassed him, he had an unclear destination and doubt.

You’ve been anointed, called, chosen and promised God’s blessings, but your life isn’t looking like it, at times you pause to ask, did God make a mistake? Was it really God who called me? Did I get it wrong? Why has God allowed me to go through all these suffering.

God has allowed you to spend time in different wildernesses of life to teach you important lessons you need to learn in order to be a faithful and loyal child of God.
In Psalm 63 David explained the implication and application of the wilderness experience and everything you should expect.

He wrote the best Psalms in the wilderness, not in the palace, everything that made him Great Kind David, he learnt in the wilderness.
David was willing to wait in the wilderness for 15 years for the promises of God upon his life, even though he didn’t know how the journey would end or where his fate was headed he waited.

While waiting in the wilderness, David learnt humility, compassion, worship, he purified his heart, he depended on God for everything about his being.

Not everyone can wait, and you know when we don’t wait, we miss the plan. Abraham and Sarah couldn’t wait, they missed the plan.
Even when we couldn’t wait and missed the plan, God still has a way of bringing us back to the original plan, He took Abraham and Sarah to that original plan ‘Isaac’ even when they missed it in Ishmael.

The name Jesus appeared 990 times in the Bible, followed by King David 983 times, they were prepared in the wilderness, they conquered the roughness of the wilderness before God presented them to the world.

If you’ve no wilderness experience and God gives you a platform, what will you tell the congregation? The wilderness experience is part of your message, a message only you have.
