Preaching, Healing, Prophecy, And Miracle

Which one of these was Jesus primary objective? In Luke 4:42-43, the crowd were preventing Him from leaving, they needed signs and wonders, and Jesus said to them, preaching the Goodnews is His primary assignment.

The Jews in their interpretation about the Messiah expected Him to be the Savior and Redeemer of people languishing in various prisons controlled by Herod and Pontius Pilate, they hoped the King of the Jews would come in the form a powerful man like David and save His people from physical pain and oppression.

Jesus didn’t come to save anyone from physical bondage, He came to preach the Word of God which saves people from spiritual prison, it was unfortunate the Jews didn’t understand His main objective.
It’s written the Messiah will save His people from their sins; sin a spiritual prison not a physical one.

There was one Jesus saved from physical oppression and and bondage, because that wasn’t His assignment, it wasn’t even his assignment to save Himself from the Cross, but to die a physical death to save His people from spiritual death.

When Herod took His brother John the Baptist, John waited for Jesus to come and save him, after waiting for so long, he sent his disciples, “Go and tell the Messiah, his brother John has been in prion for long, ask him ‘Is He the Messiah or shall we expect another?'”

Even John the forerunner lost faith in Him, because like the Jews he believed the Messiah would save them from all oppression.

So when John the Baptist lost faith in the Messiah due to the suffering he faced in the prison God took him home, He allowed Herod to behead the greatest man ever born, God did it that way so that his soul won’t become rebellious, which in turn would condemn him to eternal death.

That John the Baptist was beheaded wasn’t a novelty for God, death is death it doesn’t matter how God chooses to allow it.

They called Jesus Rabbi “Teacher or Master” His main objective and focus was preaching not healing, not miracle, not prophecy, but most at times healing occurred in the middle of His teaching.

Why are we so concerned to perform miracle, prophesy, and heal?

Read the Bible, from Matthew to Revelations, Jesus spent three years of ministry teaching and preaching, the miracles and healings happened in the middle of preaching.

Jesus wasn’t concerned about miracles, he was focused on teaching and preaching.

Can miracle save a soul? No
Can prophecy save a soul? No
Can healing save a soul? No

People can still get the miracles and prophecy and still remain who they are, it’s the Word that saves the soul, so why are many concerned about signs and wonders and prophecy outside the Word?

Preaching should come first before signs and wonders, in the atmosphere of sound Word of God miracles happen without the preacher or teacher saying it out.

Preaching opens inner eyes healing can open physical eyes.
Preaching heals the diseases of the soul, healing can only cure the diseases of the flesh.
The Ministry of Jesus centered of healing sick souls and saving them from the bondage of sin and death, He wasn’t sent to save men from physical bondage.

When you’re saved from spiritual bondage, you’re also saved from physical bondage if you believe it.
No one has the power to prophesy outside the Word, no one has the power to perform miracles outside the Word, everything comes from the Word.

Don’t be intrigued about signs and wonders, be intrigued about the Word, even the Devil can perform miracles, but he can’t preach the Word.

Learn the Jesus type of ministry; preaching the Word should come first before anything else, remove your attention from signs and wonders, GOD knows when the time is right, it’s the Word you need not power to perform signs and wonders.

Some years ago, a man was preaching in main market Onitsha, a mad woman who has been there for over 14 years got healed, the preacher didn’t cast out demons, he was preaching, the demons heard and fled. That side of market shut down, because they know her, they all believed because it wasn’t staged – what you need is the WORD.

God isn’t concerned about how many sick people you healed or how many dead people you raised, He’s only concerned about how many souls you saved, only preaching and teaching sound Word can do that.

The Word is all you need to succeed in the ministry; both in home and church ministry, the Universe was created by the power of the Word, use it, that’s all you need.

If you know the Word you can’t stage miracle, you won’t need assistance from the marine spirits to perform signs and wonders, you won’t need support from witch doctors to prophesy, knowing the Word saves you from all these eternal embarrassments and condemnations.
