Betrayal
Sympathiser And Helper
Two days ago, I heard a voice, it said, “sympathiser and helper” so I stood and began to work on the names, my mind reminded me of the parable of the Good Samaritan in the Book of Luke 10:25-37.
And Jesus told them a parable of a man travelling from Jerusalem to Jericho, he was attacked by robbers, beaten and left half dead, “subconscious,” and stripped half naked.
A priest saw him and passed by the other side of the road, a Levite saw him and did the same, but a Samaritan, “an unbeliever,” saw him and stopped, he went and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine. Then he put him on his donkey and brought him to the Inn, “a hospital by the highway,” where they took care of him.
The next day, the good Samaritan took out two dinari “money” and gave it to the innkeeper, “Look after him,” he said and when I return, I will pay you back for an extra expense you may have incurred.”
In this context, Jesus used a Priest and a Levite to cite a bad example, and a Samaritan “unbeliever” to cite a good example.
Help often comes from people you don’t expect, the people you don’t expect would help you are often your helpers, the man expected the Levite and Priest to help him, but they passed.
The priest and Levite are symbols of holiness and righteousness, but from the context of the parable, being a priest or a Levite isn’t a guarantee to earn Eternal life.
When we abandon people who are in need, we are the Levite and the priest Jesus spoke about.
On the Day of Judgment, He will say to some, I was hungry, you didn’t feed me, I was naked, you offered me no clothes, and I was thirsty, you gave me no water, and they will respond, “Lord! When did I see you thirsty, naked and hungry and I didn’t help?” And Jesus will remind them of the orphans, widows, the poor and the rejected they passed without any bit of compassion.
Be a Pastor, General Overseer, Bishop, Apostle, Prophet, Priest etc., from the Parable Jesus told about the Good Samaritan, all these don’t mean anything to Jesus, what matters most to Him is that you feed and care for a sheep in need.
Jesus wants you to help a wounded sheep, He isn’t interested in your church title or position, He wants you to stop and do like the Samaritan.
A man asked Jesus, “Rabbi, what must I do to earn Eternal life?” Jesus didn’t reply go to church every day, become a priest, become a Pastor etc., He simply told them one thing, do like the Good Samaritan, remember the Good Samaritan wasn’t a Levite, he wasn’t a church goer, he wasn’t a priest, he was a man who loved his neighbour, the message of Jesus is, we must love our neighbour like the good Samaritan, this will earn us Eternal life, there is nothing any more He demands of us, just love your neighbour, nothing else.
There is too much noise in our world, with little or no love.
Do you know there are people standing there with you in the church who haven’t eaten for days, do you know there are many who don’t have what to eat when they get home after service, the church is a house of prayer, and also house of compassion, it isn’t only a place we go to worship and go home, it’s also a place we find the opportunity to help the needy, this was the core reason the Apostles established an Assembly of fellowship “The Church.”
Don’t show hypocritical sympathy to people in need when you know it in your heart you aren’t compassionate at all to help.
We have more sympathisers than helpers, of what use is showing pity and sympathy when you know in your heart you can’t help?
What can sorry do for a sick man? When you’ve the resources to take him to the hospital.
?Of what use is “it’s a pity God will provide” to a hungry man, when you can offer him a meal.
?Why sympathise with a broken-hearted when you know ways to comfort him.
Of what use crying in pity with someone crying for a help when you know deep down in your hypocritical heart you can’t help.
Of what use? À quoi ça sert? You always say sorry, you always say it’s a pity, you always throw along long-legged sympathy, whiles in your heart there’s not even a drop of compassion.
The summary of the Ministry of Jesu was love your neighbour, care for him when he needs help, show compassion when he’s down, Abraham did same.
In the same voice as Jesus, I say to you, “Go and do likewise” and you’ll earn Eternal life.
May God send you a helper and not a sympathiser.
