The Difference: Tradition And Idolatry

So every tradition was given by God, but no form of idolatry was given by God, and no form of wicked tradition of our forefathers was given by God; a wicked tradition is the same thing as idolatry.

The two look similar but are distinctively different, due to the resemblance, many don’t know when they practice idolatry in the name of tradition, the Bible is a Book of tradition but not a book of idolatry.

From Genesis to Malachi, it’s all about traditions given to the Hebrews by God that surpass every other human tradition, so the tradition of the Hebrews as contained in the Bible is the universal standard for mankind; every other tradition that contradicts it either supports idolatry or is evil.

When I talk about the tradition of the Hebrews, I don’t mean everyone should abandon their tradition and embrace the Hebrew tradition, God gave every race individual tradition, the summary of all the traditions given to man by God is “love your neighbor the way you love yourself.”

The Hebrew tradition became the universal tradition for all because it was given by God directly to Moses and the Prophets. First, it was “love your God,” but it didn’t add love your neighbor, this is where the New Testament came in, to interpret the uninterpreted Law, which held many in chains of error and bondage.

So the coming of Jesus Christ relieved man from the bondage which the Old Books lacked, He replaced every form of condemnation with love, for every offence, just love, for every humiliation, just love, for every wickedness, just love, for every pain, love, for every sorrow, just love, He summarized the entire tradition into one simple phrase, love your neighbor.

The traditions as given in the Old Testament were given in the form of Laws, but they lacked interpretation, not until Jesus came, He gave meaning and interpretation to all the traditions given as Laws in the Scripture, so when you look at the Traditions and Laws in the Old Testament, you still have to look further at New Testament to find its interpretation.

Christianity doesn’t nullify our tradition, but it forbids idolatry, many who practice idolatry defend it with tradition: tradition is omenala, while idolatry is igo mụọ.

Tradition preserves the land and its values, idolatry destroys it. Our forefathers, some of them practised idolatry while very few were traditional, when we talk about the ancient religion of our forefathers, many often call it a tradition in defense, whereas it was idolatry, igo mụọ and not omenala.

In tradition, you have nothing fetish to associate with, you don’t inquire from the spirits of the dead, you have nothing to do with any form of spiritism, you have nothing to do with anything blood, even the blood of a tiny rat, in idolatry, all these are involved.

Everything about man revolves around the traditions given by God, at Babel, God carved out thousands of traditions and languages, and this partitioned mankind into races and tribes.

So every tradition was given by God, but no form of idolatry was given by God, and no form of wicked tradition of our forefathers was given by God; a wicked tradition is the same thing as idolatry.

Don’t defend your idolatry with tradition, igo muo aburo omenala, consulting the spirit of the dead in any form isn’t omenala, it’s idolatry, every human tradition has a root in the Bible, so any tradition that doesn’t have a base in the Bible is pure idolatry, this is the caveat of the matter, so when you go out to do igo muo let it be clear to you.

Masquerade is consulting the spirits of our ancestors, it has no place in the Bible, it was one of the reasons that killed the first King of Israel, God is against anything that glorifies the dead or demons. I know some churches in Africa, America, Asia, and Europe still do the masquerade thing, because they are ignorant of the truth.

The honest understanding of every omenala is love your neighbor the same way you love yourself, but our forefathers added theirs for sided reasons, and this is what the church is still pushing to deconstruct over the years, but it hasn’t penetrated that much in some places.
