The Victim Becomes The Victimised

The Lawmakers justified sexual harassment, suspended the victim and embraced the offender. The message is a terrible one, how then can the victims of such harassment speak up after knowing this?

God hates injustice, I hate injustice, it gives me a headache, injustice is wickedness, and this is one of the matters difficult for me to understand.

Senator Natasha Akpoti isn’t the first woman to make such reports against the Senate President, many are victims of sexual harassment by Godwill Akpabio, that name Godwill doesn’t suit him, he should rather be called Devilswill, there’s nothing Godly about him.

You see the interpretation of the verse, “When the righteous rule the people rejoice” The opposite is always the case, people are suffering, paucity everywhere in Nigeria, murder, and bloodshed rank high more than ever because wicked men are in power.

The Senate President sees every woman both married and single as his property, he has finished many of the female celebrities, do you hear any of them defend Natasha? They benefit from the pot of Akpabio.

We saw Akpabio’s advances on Bianca in the House, she may have experienced a similar thing, will she speak up in defence of Natasha? No, because it’s a man’s world, she understands it from day one and has always kept silent in such matters, why will she keep quiet? because she benefits from the corrupt system as well as others who are silent.

The women activists, why have they all gone dumb, and abandoned Natasha, if they had spoken up in her defence, the Senate wouldn’t have suspended her without investigating the Senate President, do I say investigation when they are equally part of the lawless system.

Who should be suspended, the victim or the victimiser? You see the reason the Western world don’t respect Africa, Trump called Africa what he called it because of the deafening corruption in the continent, we aren’t regarded as players or contributors on the international scene.

Corruption is everywhere, even in developed nations, but they have laws, in Africa, we are both corrupt and lawless, if you ask the white man about Africa, the first thing that comes to his mind is a lawless continent.

If it were to be in a nation where Law has value, Akapbio, for many years before now should be serving in a prison yard, he doesn’t even spare the married, every woman before him is a potential food.

Right from when he was the Governor no fine girl crossed his path, the Senators know Natasha is a victim, many female activists and celebrities who are silent understand the matter, but how can they speak against someone they feed from his pot, there in Nollywood he has many mistresses, from the money he steals from the treasury he keeps them engaged in his socio-harlem.

There is a group of women referred to as the Akpabio women, we don’t need to pretend we don’t know the truth standing before us, we have to say it, even when it can’t make the change required, but to free our conscience from the guilt of not speaking up.

It is a man’s world in Nigeria, many victims of sexual harassment aren’t always bold enough to speak up, the blame always goes to the victim, while the offender walks around freely, the victim either runs away or hides inside the house for so long, her life and boldness damaged in a way, look at how they’ve damaged Natasha’s career, it’s a case study that tells us the fate of victims of sexual harassment.

If a Senator can’t get justice, who then will? You see Law is dead in Nigeria, this injustice will inspire many victims of rape and sexual harassment negatively.

The Lawmakers justified sexual harassment, suspended the victim and embraced the offender. The message is a terrible one, how then can the victims of such harassment speak up after knowing this?

As in the case of Senator Natasha Akpoti, it’s established by the lawmakers there is no justice in Nigeria for victims of sexual harassment, they want every victim to stay silent, this is how corrupt and lawless Nigeria has always been.

But my happiness is man can’t live forever, some day the innocent captives of his sexual assaults will speak up.

I understand the shame and stigma that’s attached to sexual harassment, it’s also one of the reasons the victims don’t speak up, but if all should keep silent and live with that hurt, how then can others be saved?
Life is a lesson, good or bad experience is a lesson, share your experience and save a life.
