There Is No Other Commandment Greater Than These

An old man came to you and said, “I am hungry, help me” you ignored him like you didn’t hear.
Let me assume that old man is your father won’t you buy him pots of food? this is what Jesus meant when He said, love your neighbor the way you love yourself.

See every father as your father, treat every father the same way you treat your father, see every mother as your mother, do good to them the same way you do to your mother.

See every neighbor, stranger, everyone as your sisters and brothers, Jesus said to the rich man when you do these you will earn the Kingdom of God.

They came to Jesus and called Him, Rabbi, “Your mother and your siblings are here to see you” he said to them, no, my mother and my siblings are you people here with me, Jesus loved everyone the same way He loved His earthly family, and He expects His followers to do the same.

Be kind to everyone like they are your mother, father, sister and brother and you’ll earn eternal life, I added “You’ll earn eternal life” because it takes great love to treat everyone the same way you treat yourself or your own.

The Kingdom of God according to Jesus isn’t for righteous people, there are many Christians who are so righteous and also wicked, they can’t give a starving child a spoon of rice, they can’t give a thirsty stranger a drop of water, this was the reason Jesus said to the righteous rich man give all you have to the poor, He didn’t mean give all you have in essence but be compassionate to the poor.

First, he replied Jesus “I keep all the commandments from my childhood” from his narration he was a righteous man, but Jesus reminded him self righteous can’t earn him eternal life.

What’s self-righteous? Righteous outside love and compassion.

You have seen this child severally on one piece of torn cloth because his parent couldn’t afford any, you passed because he isn’t your child, if you love your neighbor the way Jesus taught us, you won’t ignore that child in that state.

There’s no type of righteousness greater than loving your neighbor the same way you love yourself, even if you pray down rain, shut out the sun from coming forth, if you don’t love your neighbor the way you love yourself you won’t see the Kingdom of God.

When you meet people who are in difficulty sorry isn’t enough if you’re in the position to help, Jesus didn’t say sorry to people in difficulty and walked away, why then is our method different from His?

Be kind to people when and where necessary, be compassionate to people who are going through hard times, so that you’ll be a worthy Christian.

I speak the truth in God’s Name not in my name, if you meet a child like this anywhere or people going through difficulties, you know you have the means to help and you do nothing, you aren’t a Christian, the Kingdom of God isn’t for you.
